About Us
The name "Synthome" is very loosely derived from French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan's term "sinthome" - used to describe the "knotting of the Real, the Imaginary and the Symbolic."Our organization is devoted to creating visual media that combines disparate elements of culture (including classic newsreels and archival footage as well as modern digital video) into cohesive, dream-like films focusing on the contradictory political and sexual aspects of society. The collective's goal is to return cinema back to moving images instead of what British artist Peter Greenaway once referred to as a century of "filmed text" and utilize computers and modern technology to accomplish this goal. We're also trying hard to impress girls, with little luck.
